The Albion River Bridge on State Route 1, about 15 miles south of Fort Bragg, has served the North Coast since 1944. Today, the bridge is aging and structurally deficient. For safety and long-term reliability, Caltrans has chosen a new bridge design (Alternative 2B) to replace the aging wooden truss bridge.
