Caltrans has selected Alternative 2B (East Alignment) as the preferred bridge replacement option. The plan calls for building a new bridge east of the current bridge. Once the new bridge is completed, the existing bridge will be removed.

The replacement bridge would be about 47 feet wide and include:

  • Two 12-foot travel lanes
  • 6-foot shoulders on both sides
  • 6-foot separated pedestrian walkway on the west side

Road Improvements

This alternative also includes road and intersection upgrades designed to improve driver and pedestrian safety, including:

  • Widening shoulders on SR 1
  • Realigning and improving Albion River North Side Road
  • Reconstructing the SR 1 / Albion Little River Road intersection
