The existing bridge’s roadway and timber bridge rail do not meet current safety and operational standards. The narrow shoulders do not provide additional recovery areas for motorists, safe access for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, or passage for emergency vehicles. The new bridge’s deck will be 47 feet wide and will include two 12-foot travel lanes, 6-foot shoulders, reinforced railings, and a 6-foot-separated pedestrian walkway on the west side of the bridge.
The following simulations compare the existing bridge deck with the preferred alternative.
